DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Description

A Kid Again fosters hope, happiness and healing for families raising kids with life-threatening illnesses. We provide year ’round fun-filled activities e for the entire family alongside other families a similar situation. We call these Adventures and they occur multiple times a year and are at no cost to the families.

We are seeking a part-time Social Media intern. We are looking for an intern to assist with our social media marketing efforts. You will learn about A Kid Again, a nonprofit with a 20-year history, and help us make social media a productive part of overall marketing efforts.

Summary

Interns are expected to have experience with social media on (at least) a personal level, use on a business level preferred. You must be able to think strategically and see how social media fits into a business’ marketing strategy by building long-lasting relationships and providing value to our constituents. Interns must be able to assist in formulating social media plans (once ample information is provided to you), and then carry them out (with our assistance). You must be able to measure and document the impact of social media, and then suggest action-steps to increase impact.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Creating new profiles and pages (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
  • Uploading videos, photo albums, etc.
  • Finding users to follow/friend/like our business
  • Writing and posting blog posts/tweets/updates, etc.
  • Tracking the growth and the impact of social media on our business
  • Replying to comments, messages, etc.
  • Report findings to the team
  • Consistently learn and grow, ask pertinent questions

*Please note: this is a tentative outline of possible projects and duties and additional duties may be assigned later.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office/Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.)
  • Data entry ability
  • Advanced grammar, spelling and general communication skills
  • Ability to operate copier, scanner and fax machines
  • Interest in fundraising/development

Please note that this is an unpaid internship position, but A Kid Again is happy to provide an evaluation to ensure that students receive class credit for their participation as an intern.
